Candlelit compline is being celebrated tonight with hurdy gurdy virtuoso Stevie Wishart.
Wishart’s Vespers for Hildegard of Bingen, encompassing both medieval and contemporary music and voices, is part of the Dartington Summer School and Festival which continues until Friday, August 25.
The festival includes more than 90 concerts and events, including medieval and renaissance, jazz, musical theatre, choral and Latin music, as well as creative writing courses, discussions and yoga too.
Wishart’s candlelit performance will be going ahead in the Great Hall at Dartington at 10pm with members of the Sinfonye and singers from the summer school class of renowned soprano Dame Emma Kirkby.
Wishart will be performing on hurdy gurdy, with Jon Bank on percussion and Gavin Roberts on organ.
